FAQS

Are you wondering why sometimes there are no snowy slopes or is it possible to go sledding in Zieleniec? You will find answers to these and other questions below.

General

Trimming

Can pedestrians use the lift?

Hiking tourists can use the lifts in winter to reach the summit or to the lodge.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office:

  • Nartorama extract N2,
  • Winterpol extract W3.

Ticket prices:

  • entry and exit — normal 40 PLN/reduced 25 PLN
  • entry or exit — normal 30 PLN/reduced 20 PLN

Notes: A ticket purchased at Nartorama is valid only for their lift — analogous to the others.

Until what time are restaurants open? Is there anything else to eat after the night rides?

The opening hours of individual restaurants depend on traffic, but there are many places where after 22:00 we can count on a cup of hot tea and something to eat.

Is there a grocery or 24-hour store in Zieleniec? Where is it?

There are two shops in Zieleniec. One of them is located at the Straszny Dwór resort, and the other at Jagienka. Shops are not 24 hours.

We plan to come with a large group to Zieleniec. Who to contact about arrival and possible discounts?

In Zieleniec we have preferential discount programs for organized groups (min. 20 people). Depending on the size of the group, you can count on a discount of 10 to 25% + passes for caregivers. In order to prepare a group offer, it is best to send a question to email: skipass@zieleniec.pl

What to do with something lost by someone? Where to take her? Where to report? Who to contact?

It is best to go to the cash register at the extract and report such a fact. Alternatively, we encourage you to report this fact on the Facebook group Ushusowy — Zieleniec Sport Arena after hours

Is it possible to pay in Euros or Krones?

Some properties accept payment in a currency other than PLN. It is a good practice to check before arrival whether the property accepts payments in Euro or Krona.

Why are there no family passes?

Currently, our offer is structured in such a way that children up to 5 years old can use the sofa lifts for free - provided that they are accompanied by a guardian with a valid pass. In addition, the difference between a normal and a reduced pass is significant. Remember that in the case of other resorts, the availability of family passes limits the skiing to one position — one of our main goals is the absence of any restrictions for our guests when it comes to the use of slopes and lifts.

Does Zieleniec have luggage storage?

Unfortunately, we currently do not have luggage storage — however, we are working on such a solution and we hope that in the next seasons such a place will appear in Zieleniec Sport Arena.

Where can you ride a sled?

In Zieleniec on the ski slopes we are forbidden to use sledges, apples, etc. A separate place for sledding is located under the Hanka resort — right next to the M2 and B2 lifts right behind the house.

Why are the slopes not snowed?

For snowmaking to be effective, we must have the right temperature, humidity and moderate wind. Only if all three elements have the right parameters can the cannons work at 100% power. They often work at less than 100% — e.g. when the temperature is -2°C (this is the minimum temperature to turn on the cannons. In Zieleniec every winter we try to maximize the efficiency of snowmaking by adapting the process to the best possible conditions.

Will the snow park be open? Alternatively, are there any obstacles prepared for freestylers?

If the winter is good, the snow park will be opened. Let us also remember that our goal in the first place is to prepare the routes as best as possible, so that we can guarantee you an adequate level of safety and satisfaction from riding.

Is it possible to pay by card at the cash desks?

Yes. In most cash desks there is the possibility of payment by payment card.

Is it possible to pay by card in Zieleniec?

Of course most cash registers are equipped with payment terminals as well, accommodation facilities and bars and restaurants. Nevertheless, before choosing a particular guest house, we suggest you check this possibility by phone.

Why doesn't the mower go to the slope despite the fact that there are mulds?

Slopes in Zieleniec are trimmed every day at night, and with heavy snowfall also in the morning. For trimming to make sense, time and the right temperature are required so that the “corduroy” has a moment to freeze, which results in the formation of a uniform coating. In the event that, after leaving the ratrakt on the slope, it is immediately put into use, and there is no time for the frost to “grab” the snow, the slope after a short time returns to its original state. The slopes at the G1 and W5 sofa are also trimmed before the night ride. The goal of the snowplow trip is to prepare the routes as optimally as possible, which I associate (as in the case of snowmaking) with the fulfillment of specific weather conditions.

‍Note: it is strictly forbidden to stay on the slope during snow removal, as this threatens to damage your health - especially on slopes where snow trimmers use a winch with a rope on steep climbs.

When and which slopes are trimmed?

All slopes in Zieleniec are trimmed, every day at night, and with heavy snowfall also in the morning. In extreme cases, the slopes are also trimmed before night driving, which involves temporarily disabling the slope from use.

How does the trimmer work and what does its work consist of?

Trimmer is a motor vehicle, the main task of which is to prepare ski slopes for skiing or snowboarding. This is especially important when snow cannons are working on the slopes, from which the snow produced is very frozen. The trimmer, passing by the tracks, breaks it (due to its mass and the specificity of the tracks), and the rear part is responsible for milling. Thanks to the pressure of the finisher, characteristic stripes are formed, colloquially called “corduroy”. The front mower is equipped with a plow, while at the rear it is equipped with a milling cutter or multicutter, the task of which is to align the thrust slope.

How many trimmers work at the resort?

In Zieleniec there are 14 permanent trimmers:

  • Nartorama and MCM — 4 pieces
  • Diamond — 2 pieces
  • Gryglówka and Grapa — 3 pieces
  • Bartuś — 1 piece
  • Winterpol — 3 pieces
  • Mieszko — 2 pieces
What snow trimmers does the resort have at its disposal?

In Zieleniec we mainly have German Kässbohrer trimmers (PistenBully 400 and 300 models) and Prinoth (Italy).

When and how often do trimmers go to the slopes?

Snow trimming takes place at night after the ski slopes are closed — this is primarily due to safety reasons. Remember that after the closure of the resort there is an absolute ban on staying on the slopes, also precisely because of the snow trimming that takes place at that time. On the part of the unrolling slopes there is then a special rope, which in places with a large slope pulls the trimmer upwards.

Some of the routes are also trimmed in the afternoon before night rides. Such snow skiing takes place on the W5 Winterpol slope from 16:00 to 18:00. Also for safety reasons, the trimmed slopes are excluded from use at this time. Snow climbing before the night ride is also carried out on the slopes of Gryglówka at the G1 railway (without interruption in the operation of the lift).

Why does the afternoon trimming break takes 2 hours?

The process of afternoon trimming itself takes two hours, while the weather and weather conditions are an important factor here. During this second hour, the snow has the opportunity to freeze, due to which it becomes a solid structure. If the slope were put into use immediately, the loose snow after running the mower would be “driven away” by skiers and snowboarders in about 30 minutes, which would instantly lead to a return to its pre-mowing state.

Let's also add that night snow removal takes much longer because it covers a larger area — it often lasts from about 21:00 finishing work even around 03:00 at night.

Why aren't all routes trimmed in the afternoon?

Because this would involve the exclusion of all lifts, and that during the season is not possible. On the other hand, some slopes simply do not require trimming in the afternoon - this applies in particular to slopes with a smaller slope angle where the process of formation of unevenness/muld is completely different than on steep routes.

Snow trimming and the safety of skiers and snowboarders

The mower is a heavy and slow-moving equipment with a powerful mass and limited maneuverability. It moves on most slopes - even those with a very high slope. It thus poses a threat to all persons who might be within its scope of action. Therefore, staying on the slopes during their snowfall (afternoon and night hours) is completely prohibited.

Let us also add that the work of the mower in practice increases the level of safety of skiers and snowboarders on the slopes, trying to improve the quality of the surface as much as possible, eliminating the resulting irregularities and icing.

However, I remember that the condition of the slope is significantly influenced by the intensity of ski traffic (here the problem concerns in particular popular and more frequently visited routes) and weather conditions (humidity, frost, wind), which unfortunately is no longer influenced by the employees of the resort in Zieleniec (but also other resorts).

Is there a snow trimming in Zieleniec?

Of course. As in the case of other slopes, snow park trimming takes place at night, but requires a completely different technology and competence than is the case with normal routes. This is related to the fact that obstacles require very high precision and great skills from the person driving the mower. In addition, the mower must be equipped with functions designed for trimming areas in snow parks.

Cross-country skiing on the Czech side

Cross-country trails, which are located primarily in our southern neighbors, are mostly perfectly prepared for riding. Of course, it all depends on the snow cover, but if winter is already good, they are trimmed (and a trail is installed or corrected) two or even three times a week. Sometimes it is enough even to do snow climbing once a week, although the frequency depends primarily on the current state of the routes.

What is important is that there are already almost 120 km of trails on the Czech side and sometimes it happens that not all Czechs will have time to cross the lawn mowers. However, always the main routes are perfectly prepared and suitable for running perfectly.

‍Let us remind you that our southern neighbors are responsible for snow skiing on the Czech side, and they themselves do not formally fall within the framework of the Zieleniec Sport Arena.
